We hired First State Building & Design to rebuild our deck after damage from a fallen tree and to replace our patio. We are thrilled with the end result! Tony was very helpful in the design process and recommended the lights, which create a fabulous glow in the evening! Josh (the project manager), Nick, and the rest of the guys did a terrific job with the construction. Josh answered all of our questions and kept us up to date. He also responded quickly to texts. The work was meticulously done with great attention to detail. The overall process from start to finish was very smooth. Every day we are at the house we spend time under our new roof which is a great relief from the sun.  Everyone who stops by remarks on how beautiful it is.  Also, people who see it from a drive by, find time to stop and compliment as well.  It was a pleasure working with First State Building and Design.  Everyone that we worked with was professional and very knowledgeable with their products and design.  They started when they said, and finished when they said.  All subcontractors were professional and made sure the job site was cleaned up at the end of each day. First State Building & Design recently completed a 3-4 season sunroom addition to our house that has been a dream of ours for many years.  We are extremely happy with the result and the entire process.  We were able to see our vision in 3D renderings during the design phase and they were very responsive to our questions and made adjustments to meet our budget while not sacrificing the overall vision.  All of the folks we worked with at FSBD were top notch, professional, and friendly. From the quality and craftsmanship of the construction carpenters who built our room from foundation to roof in the dead of winter, to the finish carpenter's trim work, the electricians, the painters and to the stone mason's artistry (absolutely a man who loves his craft and it shows) making the wood burning fireplace the centerpiece of our room.  The project managers who were here regularly and provided daily updates on progress and schedule through the BuilderTrend app and portal were great and responsive as well as the customer service liaison who checked in on us to help navigate the paperwork and financials. First State Building and Design just completed my new deck and fence rebuild and I am thrilled with the results.  I could not recommend them more highly! The whole process went so smoothly. Communication is important to me and I was kept updated all along the way. My project manger was fantastic and all the craftsmen and support staff were top notch and  genuinely concerned with my satisfaction. Do yourself a favor and consider them for your next project. First State Building and Design was recommended to us by two neighbors who were very happy with their work. My husband and I had our old deck torn down, and a new, bigger deck put up in its place as well as 14 large floor to ceiling windows in our sunroom and in the basement area below the sunroom. The team of workers, led by Bryan LaCarte, was respectful of us and our property, and we are very happy with the finished product. The workers who installed the new deck were efficient, polite, and meticulous, and there was absolutely no trash of any kind after they left each day. They were prompt and courteous. The windows and wooden framing around them look great; they are high quality ProVia windows. We also had the sunroom painted so everything would match perfectly. First State also pointed out some places underneath the basement windows that had wood that had rotted and needed to be addressed. An advantage of working with First State is that they use an online program called BuilderTrend that has everything about your project easily accessible to the customer, including a calendar with ongoing plans for each day. Invoices can be paid through BuilderTrend, and First State reaches out to make sure you know how to use BuilderTrend with ease. We received regular communication from Suzanne to ask how things were going. We were very pleased with FSBD. They demolished our old wooden deck and back stairs and built brand new ones using Timbertech. They also installed a new patio. The consultation and design process was excellent, with Eli providing options and paying close attention to our "vision" for the project.  The handoff to Eric, the overall project manager, was seamless. We received a detailed plan for the project, with start date and intended completion time, and specific dates for equipment and materials deliveries, etc. Even though we were hit with some major snowstorms, the project was completed pretty much as scheduled, and we received almost daily updates on progress or changes. The carpenters and patio installers were efficient and  not at all intrusive. Based on our excellent experience, we recommend FSBD without reservation.
